    Wow, I never heard of non vegetarian wine. Organic wine, yes - veg wine, no! This is all really good to know. Thanks for posting.

    The same concerns (animal-based clarifying agents) apply for beer as well. Of the widely-available brands in the US, Anheuser-Busch has certified that all their beers are vegetarian-compatible, which is good news if you like their products (although I'm not such a big fan). It's been said that German beers brewed under the Reinheitsgebot (purity) laws should be safe since the law restrict the ingredients used in beer, but I don't think it says anything about the processing, so it's no guarantee. Googling for "vegetarian beer," though, shows lots of hits, so we're certainly not hurting for choices.
